Brief
History and Introduction.
The
Quaid-e-Azam Musafar Khana is a project of the
Quaid-e-Azam Patient Welfare Society a duly registered
NGO.
The
Project Director is Mr. Iftikhar Malik, B.Sc.
(Economics) London. Mr. Shahid Hamid Former Governor
of the Punjab is the Chairman of the Advisory
Board of the society. The President of the society
is Mr. Shamim Ahmad Malik who is an industrialist
and Managing Director of Royal Paper Industries
Ltd. The Vice President of the society is Mr.
Tariq Malik who is the Managing Director of Potential
Engineers. Prof. Mehmood Shoukat is the Medical
Adviser and Mr. Shahid Jalal is the Financial
Director, Mr. Bashir M. Akhtar is the Director
Human Resources.
This
charitable society has built a sixth story high
rise building which is known as the Mehman Khana.
It is located within the boundary wall of Mayo
Hospital Lahore and the project cost is Rs. 60,000,000/-.

The
charitable facility serves the poor of the poorest
patients who come to Mayo Hospital Lahore for
treatment.
1.
The Musafar Khana has 500 steel beds for patients
with foam mattresses, linen, blanket’s etc
and additional accommodation for the attendance
who accompany the patient. The patients and attendance
are served free meals three times a day (mutton
is coked twice a week, halwa, zarda sweet dish
etc three times a week). All the patients are
given egg and glass of milk with bread at breakfast
time.
2.
Medicines, implants and surgical items for operations
a provided free of cost. Lab. Tests, X-rays, ultrasound,
CT scan and MRI are done free of cost.
3.
Paramedics and dressers daily attend to the dressing
of the wounds of thepatients.
4.
In conjunction with Edhi Foundation free ambulance
service provided.
5.
Patients and their family members are provided
with rail, bus and air tickets (in the case of
northern areas) for returning home and also for
insuring that they return to the hospital for
the next doze of chemotherapy.
6.
Transportation of died body, kafan, dafan, is
arranged.
7. Cash donations of Rs. 200/- Rs. 500/- &
Rs. 1,000/- is provided every month to cancer
patients and other seriously ill patients.
8.
Individual trustees of the society of taken upon
themselves, the entire expense of :-
a.
Knee joint replacement.
b.
Heart value implant.
c.
Regular medication of kidney transplant patient.
d.
Numerous amputation operations.
e.
Spinal injury cases are taken to renowned Neurosurgeons.
For the activities listed above, the Almighty
has made the Musafar Khana is launching pad of
noble missions.
